Impromptu 24hour readathon

Hello bookish friends,

I decided before the new year I would try and finish a few books. I mentioned this fact to my colleague/friend on the 29th November and we both realised that we had the next day off from work. This inspired us to rally some of our other friends from work and do a 24hour readathon. There are no rules apart from to read/finish something you are reading already and to also read as much as you can. Some of my friends have decided on one book, some more. I have decided on a few but I don’t know how many I will actually get through (see below for results) We all started at our own times as some of us finished work earlier than others. I started around 8pm and I am very glad we decided to do this as it is the last sprint before the new year.

  1. Feminists don’t wear pink – Curated by Scarlett Curtis (finished within the first 2 hours of the readathon) This was also a book I wanted to finish before the new year. Pages read: 284
  2. Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas (This is an ongoing project as it is very long) pages read: 230
  3. Snowglobe – Amy Wilson (read  throughout the day and was also a book I wanted to finish before the new year) Pages read: 271
  4. The Bookshop girl – Sylvia Bishop (read  before I went to sleep and then finished when I woke up again) Pages read: 219

I decided to include a longer read as I had just finished Tower of Dawn and wanted to move onto Kingdom of ash, while also trying to read some shorter lighter reads in between.

My Total page count is 1,004 for this readathon! I’m so so happy with that as this was such a spur of the moment thing. Also, we are planning on doing more readathons in the future.

My friends reading:

First Friend:

She read the end of On the Come up – Angie Thomas (we were buddy reading this together but I finished over Christmas)

The Poet X – Elizabeth Acevedo (started and finished within the 24hour period)

A Discovery of Witches – Deborah Harkness (Read about a hundred pages)

Second Friend:

Her only goal was to finish one book as she is a slower reader but she is nearly done and is going to continue reading even though the time is up.

Normal People – Sally Rooney

Third Friend:

Two of us convinced her to pick up scythe and thunderhead the other day and she really enjoyed scythe so she wanted to read and finish thunderhead. This is still ongoing as she had work to do today too but I haven’t had an update in the last few hours on her progress. The last update was that she had just started part 4 of the book but she will be way past that now.

Thunderhead – Neal Schusterman

I am really proud of all of our achievements for this 24hour period. Reviews will be coming soon for all that I have read.

As always, happy reading

Korie xx
