Hello bookish friends,
I recently picked up Lumberjanes as I saw that one of my colleagues has read the whole series and loved them. I love a good graphic novel as they are normally very short and quick to read. It gives me a break from some of the tomes that I normally read within the fantasy variety.
I am so happy I picked this up as It was a really cute graphic novel/comic showing girl power while also having an amazing art style, mystical elements and a lot of humour. It made me smile all the way through and I am certainly going to pick up the next one.
Recently I’ve been reading the Saga series and compared to that this was so lighthearted and cute. I loved the different personalities and characteristics of the girls within this story. Also, the name of vol.1 made me chuckle (beware the kitten holy) it is such a fun read.
A lot of reviews I have seen about this series is that people either love it or hate it. however a lot of the people that went into this series and hated it was looking for more of an intellectual well thought out the plot. Although putting this into perspective I had no expectations going into it. It is certainly weird and all over the place. I felt like the reader had been put into the middle of the story rather than the beginning. Once I got to grips with the style of it though I realised it was charming and all a bit of fun. It can also appeal to a younger audience which I think is brilliant as a lot of graphic novels have heavy topics within them. This one is all about FRIENDSHIP TO THE MAX!
